Fight Scene

Fight Scene is a photojournalistic documentary project which depicts the trials and tribulations of boxers and cage-fighters in the UK. It was my first photography project and was made possible because of the London Shoot Fighters mixed martial arts gym. This succesful outfit produce many world class fighters and place many of them into global tournaments, including the Ultimate Fighting Championshop in America.

After pitching my idea to the gym owners they allowed me to have access to all areas of their practice. The project started to take off as I developed numerous relationships with their fighters and began to be allowed to travel with the team when they went to fight across the UK. The final project reflects my interest in the cyclical nature of the fighter's journey: from training in the gym; preparing back stage before the fight; taking chances in the ring; returning to the gym for another session of conditioning, discipline and improvement.
